Greetings!
As parents and educators, we have the responsibility to help our students make sense of the world and to give them a strong foundation before they head off to bigger and brighter things. Education is a powerful tool that can positively transform a student, classroom, and ultimately, the society. I am very happy to be a member of a group that shares the vision of providing such services to our young people. Following the tradition of excellence set by Fudan University and its affiliated high school, we are dedicated in providing strong academics and rich resources to our students.
I came to Shanghai, China after working for five years as the Assistant Director of Admission at Teachers College, Columbia University. My routine consisted of recruiting, interacting and screening many talented prospective students in the United States and from around the world. I hope to continue this practice here at Fudan International School. Though we are relatively young division, we are fully committed in providing the necessary tools for our not or students to survive and thrive in today's complex global society.
We are aware of our advantages of having the best of the East and West educational culture. According to Dr. Shirley Jackson of RPI, between "1986 and '99, countries in Asia increased their production of degree-holders, particularly doctorates, by 400 percent in South Korea, and 5400 percent in China". She was giving merits to degree advancements in the field of math, science and engineering in these countries. These merits depend heavily on discipline, dedication and direction. Perhaps these traits are the best of what Eastern education offers.
Western education offers an opportunity for students to think independently and critically. Ideally, the creative freedom from the Western curriculum promotes students the opportunity to utilize their talents to take risks and to develop their own leadership qualities. Fudan International School seeks to blend the two and allow our students to grow as a whole person.
There's an atmosphere conducive for learning in the neighborhood where Fudan high school is located. Besides Fudan University, we have neighboring Tongji University, Shanghai TV University, Shanghai Economics and Finance University, and Shanghai International Studies University just minutes away from each other.
We encourage both parents and students to visit our campus and take tours of our facility. We would be delighted to meet and speak to you.
Sincerely
Peter Shon
Director of Admission
