September 3rd: First day of school.

Zoo
FIS visited the Shanghai Zoo and helped to clean up.

Jim Fallows: Atlanta Magazine journalist Jim Fallows gave two seminars on Chinese public policy. He discussed topics such as democracy in China and the issue of Taiwan. 

october:
NBA Basketballl
On Wednesday October the 17th, FIS boarding students experienced the excitement of NBA in Shanghai! They attended the match between Cleveland Cavaliers & Orlando Magic.

November:
Track meet
FIS and High School Affiliated with Fudan University competed together in track and field  events. Our students: Jacqueline Tang (Grade 10) and ??? won silver for shotput and ??? for ???, respectively.

Fu Dan Fu Zhong Art show
FIS and HSAFU enjoyed an afternoon of music, dance, and drama performed by local HSAFU students.


December:
Christmas Party
A small dance party by all students and teachers   

organic farm
Environmental Science class visited Shanghai Organics to learn about organic farming and trends in China; they also tasted delicious, fresh, organic vegies.


January:
Grade 10 and 11 students attended the Linden Fair.

February:
Chinese New Year Breaks
Students and teachers returned to their homelands and travelled around the world.

March:
Princeton
Shirley Tilghman, the president of Princeton University, visited FIS on her trip to China. She and a group of our students discussed concerns for the future, especially the issue of climate change.

Columbia
A group of FIS and HSAFU students attended the Columbia alumni conference to learn about Columbia University and higher education in America.


April:
Math competitions
FIS students  wrote the Fryer (grade 9), Galois (grade 10), Hypatia (grade 11),and Euclid (grade 12) Math Contests held by the University of Waterloo in Canada.

Hamlet
The Drama Club watched Shakespeare's Hamlet performed by TNT Theatre Britain.

Inner Mongolia
Pedram Ghaffiripour and Guangye Cao traveled to Inner Mongolia with Shanghai Roots & Shoots to help fight desertification by planting trees.

S&T musuem
Scavenger hunt at the Science and Technology Museum.

June:
Dance Party
Our first official dance party. Theme: black and white.

Last day of school
Commencement for the first two graduating seniors and awards ceremony.

Turkish guests
11 Turkish students spent a week at FIS,attending classes with us and sightseeing around Shanghai.


Pingpong Tournament
Students and teachers participated in the pingpong tournament. Final winner: Jason Wang.

Basketball Tournament
Teachers joined students to compete in groups of three.
